Sisal and Seagrass: Renewable Fibers
Whether wall to wall, or as area rugs, these natural fibers are affordable and stain-resistant. The sisal fiber is used for rope
as well as carpets. Native to Mexico, sisal is cultivated from central and South America, Africa, and Asia. An agave, sisal became popular both for its strength as well as its ability to stretch. It dyes easily. The rugs are edged with either cotton, linen, or faux leather. It is best cleaned with either vinegar, diluted laundry detergent, or diluted ammonia.
Sisal can also be purchased as a 40% blend with 60% wool for a softer texture.
100% Chinese Sea grass is latex backed for dimensional stability and to prevent slippage.. The texture is somewhat waxier than sisal.
Warranty: Five-year warranty against manufacturers defects.

Bamboo Renewable, recyclable and biodegradable, bamboo flooring is a true gem in modern sustainable architecture. Bamboo is the fastest growing plant on earth, growing up to 6” per day, making it a very sustainable and renewable material. It is as strong as oak hardwood and comes in solid or hand-scraped finishes and five colors. |
Cork As the bark of the cork oak tree (part of the beech family), cork is a hearty renewable resource. Due to the air-filled, light nature of cork, it provides a comfortable cushion underfoot as it gives under compression and affords the unique ability to “bounce-back”,
reducing noise, making it perfect for multi-level homes, office spaces, museums and places of worship. |
