These countertops are made of sand and gravel from the New River in Independence Virginia. The concrete is
stained using recycled iron oxides and using environmentally responsible low VOC sealers.
This beautiful aggregate has a low embodied energy and does not require mining or long distance hauling. The
countertops have recycled content, including recycled iron oxide to stain some of the concrete mixtures.
The countertops are ground, polished, and sealed to make them heat resistant and virtually stain resistant.
Categories where credits can contribute to LEED certification are: Recycled Content MR4, Local Regional Materials
MR5, Low Emitting Materials EQ4.
