These countertops are made of sand and gravel from the New River in Independence Virginia. The concrete is
stained using recycled iron oxides and using environmentally responsible low VOC sealers.
This beautiful aggregate has a low embodied energy and does not require mining or long distance hauling. The
countertops have recycled content, including recycled iron oxide to stain some of the concrete mixtures.
The countertops are ground, polished, and sealed to make them heat resistant and virtually stain resistant.

"The New River, a tributary of the Kanawha River, is
approximately 320 mi (515 km) long, flowing through
the states of North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia
in the United States. Much of the river's course through
River Gorge National River. The New River is one of the
American Heritage Rivers of the United States."
